Another Saigal Ghazal

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

After a long time, another rare Saigal ghazal:

‘gar siyah-bakht hii hona tha naseebon mein mere

zulf hota tere rukhsar pe ya til hota

The recording I have has the first line snipped off. It could be cleaner too — this file is too saturated and a little noisy. Maybe I will re-digitize it someday when I have the time.

Enjoy!

Apart from Hindi and Urdu, KL Saigal recorded songs in several other languages including Farsi, Bangla, Tamil (!) and Punjabi. We feature two of his songs in Punjabi, his native language. While the choice of language is unusual for his songs, the style of delivery is a familiar one.

mahi naal je ankkh laD-di kadi na and o soNe saqiya meri gali vi phera panda ja. Enjoy.
