Before his unfortunate death in his early teens, a child called Master Madan set the music scene ablaze with his remarkable rendering of ghazals and thumris. Over half a century later, all that you can find is two remarkable ghazals: `yoon na reh reh kar’ and `hairat se tak raha hai’.
We bring you several extremely rare melodies of this young master, beginning with gori gori baiyan.
Apart from Hindi and Urdu, KL Saigal recorded songs in several other languages including Farsi, Bangla, Tamil (!) and Punjabi. We feature two of his songs in Punjabi, his native language. While the choice of language is unusual for his songs, the style of delivery is a familiar one.

aseer-e-gham ka bhala phir kahan Thikana tha — today we bring you this lively ghazal from the under-appreciated Kamala Jharia. Beyond the two ghazals included in various HMV compilations (na tum mere na dil mera and maston ke jo usool hain), no recordings of this delightful singer seem to be available.
